I have a lot to say in this blog post. And the best part comes at the end, so I hope you pay attention. Let us begin with my dream for the blog:
Although it hardly seems just that I, the leech of the blogosphere, would even dare to utter my intentions for the future of the blog-- this blog that belongs to so many-- I implore you to consider my immense devotion to BK4. It was love at first sight-of-Quin-face-down-in-the-bubble-that-one-night. Or maybe it was the sweet taste of Franzia sipped gently from forbidden places. Perhaps my fate was decided the first time we all partook of the leaf together in 423, in His (Floorby's) holy name, and the fire alarm went off and we had to put popcorn in the microwave to thwart the plans of anyone who might plan on getting us in trouble and weaken the power of the Republic. I don't know when exactly it began, but my love to BK4 runs deep. Like super deep.
So even though this blog has experienced relatively healthy activity since the day classes ended, I am still concerned about what is to become of this most unique form of communication as we all become more involved with whatever it is we're doing this summer. So I propose that the blog be temporarily converted into a travel blog. It's the only travel blog that can be in 40 places at once! Let's just document our summers and share them with each other in order to dull the bitter pain that is being apart. BK4 has been ripped to shreds and spread to every corner of the galaxy, and it is only through stories, pictures, and viral youtube videos that we can be brought back together. Please, don't let my dream die.
Alright. First destination: Anacortes, WA
Anacortes is my hometown. It's on an island in Puget Sound and it's glorious. It has an uncommonly significant percentage of old people (Oprah's Top 10 Cities to Retire In WHAT), and lots of trees and lakes and boats and friends. I'm here for the summer working at the fuel dock at one of the marinas.
Check it.
Sometime (alright alright, everyday) I imagine how epic it would be to have a wizard's duel on this dock. So many cool places to hide and things to get blown up and stuff.
This is the hut. It protects me from the weather. Spills aren't slick y'all.
And there's so much wildlife! Well, this isn't exactly life. Does that make it wilddeath? Whatever it is, it's wild. And sometimes I see baby seals and their mamas.
Tips r kewlz. But I often put my own money in there to make me look more tip-worthy. So that's probably not 100% profit. Sigh.
Diesel, baby!
So there's a lot more going on in Anacortes besides my job right now, but those are the only pictures I have. I encourage all of yous to celebrate Bring Your Camera to Work/Internship/School(/What else?) Day sometime this summer and let us know what's going on whichu.
Aaaaand that's all of me talking about my dull life back home. I challenge you to make a more interesting contribution. (I'm setting the bar low so that we have some place to go.)
But I really do want to tell you guys, everyone on BK4, how much it meant to me to be friends with all of you this past semester. I got to know some of you better than others, but everyone added something very important to BK4, even if that something was a shut door with the same gospel music blasting for hours on end. It seems dumb that I was ever worried about making fwiends at SC. You guys are the best. I wish I had had more time to just hang out and goof around with you guys, but we have plenty of time ahead of us and I don't plan on losing touch with any of you. My apartment, the oasis in a desert of RAs, is always open to you :)
I know I said I was done talking about my hometown, but I lied (surprise!). This video and everything in it was written, performed, and produced by my twin bro in home sweet home Anacortes. Yes, Harry Potter is my twin brother. And yes, Anacortes is the real home of the Forbidden Forest.
Sweet video! Can i nut on your chest now?
