My friend Eddy

In the true spirit of blogging, here is a brief glimpse into a new/happening aspect of the information world which you may not already know about:

It' name is TED (no it's not you're ex-boyfriend's personal website or that one guy you saw at a party last weekend who you noticed muttering to himself as he put a dose of insulin into his vodka cranberry), it's an organization whose goal is to spread knowledge and celebrate innovation.

Specifically, TED stands for
-Technology
-Entertainment
-Design

But what they do, most noticeably, is bring in outstanding individuals who are notable in some facet of what they do and have them give a 5-30 min presentation on just what it is they do/have done. Such people include Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple), Imogen Heap (freaking sweet musician/singer), Bill Clinton (President/Monica Lewinski's sack-buddy)

and Bono,

to name a few. These are mostly the people whose names and faces you (I) would be more familiar with, but there are many more whose innovational developments and policies and whose works of art you are even more familiar with.

TED brings in all of these influential and fascinating individuals to speak in front of a crowd of wealthy people who pay thousands of dollars to watch the presentations which TED then proceeds to post online for free.

So my recommendation is that you check out a talk or two on their site:

www.ted.com

I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I also recommend this one in particular: Joachim do Posada

Enjoy!

-Pax
