(J-Script: I had no idea someone had already posted a new entry while I was writing this one. My apologies to the previous poster.)
If memory serves me right, I have two huge papers due in the next week. And it appears that I will be severely stressed out in the coming weeks before Spring Break.
What's worse: I have no will, nor have I the inspiration, to write any part of either of those papers. Even if this were the day before said papers were due, I still probably won't have the will or inspiration.
So what pops into my head? The one thing I need to actually make this paper happen?
Ha! Think again.
Of all things, I happen to come up with...a plotline for a potential fan fiction piece I may write later on.
You get this.
Yes, I admit it: I am now a crazed author of fan fiction, writing about how kids who live in two separate worlds during a time when the two worlds are fighting over control of the mana supply square off against some of the best chefs in the entire world. But alas, stranger things have happened. At least I'm not writing about how teenage girls are suddenly falling head over heels in love for vampire wannabes.
I suppose it all started when I rediscovered my 5th-grade obsession with that Japanese cult sensation all over again. I was beginning to channel Chairman Kaga all over again, muttering things like, "Kyo no tema wa...kore desu!" to spontaneously shouting ridiculous phrases like "Yomigaeru-ai Iron Chef!" or the infamous "ALLEZ CUISINE!" I think I also developed an unhealthy obsession for bell peppers, and was irritated when I saw peppers of every color but yellow.
And then I went home over Christmas break and dusted off my GameCube (the bastard child of the Nintendo legacy) to play one of the few bright spots in a realm of games plagued by failure. And after a battle, you can cook to recover some health.
So do you now see where this is headed? A spark of inspiration hits me late into the night, and I write the first of two stories: Genis Sage steps into Kitchen Stadium and challenges the King of Iron Chefs: Iron Chef French, Hiroyuki Sakai.
And as for my author handle, OkonoMiyagi:
It comes from the Japanese dish, okonomiyaki, which is a pancake topped with various ingredients. In Japan, there are several restaurants dedicated to serving just this dish.
And while I was slightly influenced by that film, Karate Kid, for the second part of my handle, I wanted to actually trick people into thinking that my last name actually was Miyagi. So far, nobody has fallen for it.
But now, BK4! Procrastinate even further into the night as you tantalize your taste buds with the savory culinary offerings of the cast of Tales of Symphonia...and of the Iron Chefs!
