the pink sheep of the family

for those BK4-ians who don't really give a fuck about haute couture / fashion in general, you might change your mind after taking a look at the work of alexander mcqueen, the "hooligan" and "enfant terrible" of the fashion world who died this morning in london.

mcqueen's fashion shows were full of drama, and i think even those who don't care much about clothes can appreciate his art. here's just a sample of his recent looks.

from his fall 2006 Scotland-inspired show (which featured a life-sized hologram of Kate Moss)

mcqueen was the self proclaimed "pink sheep" of his family, and his flamboyance and flair for theatrics were well known (and loved). but what i loved most about mcqueen was the fairy tale quality of his shows, and his amazing attention to detail. even if you would never wear his clothes, or don't appreciate his aesthetic, you can't deny his fucking awesome vision.
